G3 Mechanics Ltd | Version 1.0 | 20 October 2026
These terms cover vehicle diagnostics, servicing, repairs and parts supplied by G3 Mechanics Ltd (G3, we or us). They apply to consumer and business customers where provided before a booking is agreed. A consumer is an individual acting wholly or mainly outside their trade or business. Your accepted quotation or job authorisation sets out the work, price or charging basis and any specific arrangements.
G3 Mechanics Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 17071975, VAT number 515746776. Workshop and correspondence address: Unit 3, Green End Farm, Sarratt, Hertfordshire, WD3 6HH. Email: info@g3mechanics.co.uk. Telephone: 07541 101207.
Nothing in these terms removes your statutory rights. Any individually agreed change must be confirmed in writing and must be lawful. New versions apply to new bookings only; we will not change an existing contract without your agreement.
You must own the vehicle or have authority to commission the work. Tell us about relevant faults, modifications, previous repairs, warranty cover and any finance or leasing restrictions. Provide accurate contact details and respond to requests for approval. We will record the vehicle registration, mileage and any apparent damage on arrival where practicable.
We will agree the scope of work and your spending limit before starting. Approval may be given on a job sheet or by email, text or another recorded communication. We will record telephone approval and confirm it in writing. Leaving a vehicle with us does not authorise unlimited investigation or repairs.
We will obtain your approval before exceeding an agreed limit, undertaking additional chargeable work or materially changing the specified parts. If we cannot reach you, we will pause the affected work. We may take reasonable immediate steps to protect people or property, but this is not permission to carry out unapproved repairs.
A quotation is a fixed price for the stated work and assumptions. An estimate is an informed indication, not a fixed price. We will identify which applies and explain any diagnostic, dismantling, consumables, disposal or subcontract charges. Consumer prices include VAT; business quotations will clearly show VAT and the total payable.
Quotations are valid for 14 calendar days unless stated otherwise. Once accepted, the agreed price cannot be increased without your agreement. If a hidden problem changes the work required, we will explain it and seek authorisation for a revised price before proceeding.
You may decline further repairs. Authorised work already carried out remains chargeable. We will provide an itemised invoice and reasonable clarification of charges. Any charge for preparing a new technical assessment or revised quotation must be agreed in advance.
Diagnostics are a chargeable professional service, unless we expressly agree otherwise. We agree an initial fee or time allowance and seek further approval before extending it. A fault-code scan is not necessarily a complete diagnosis: intermittent faults and interacting systems may require staged tests, dismantling or further investigation.
Payment is for authorised investigation performed with reasonable care and skill, even if no definitive fault is found or you decline repairs. We will explain our findings, limitations and recommended next steps. We do not charge you to correct our own defective diagnostic work.
Before dismantling, we will explain foreseeable reassembly costs and risks. If you stop the work, any charge for reassembly or making the vehicle suitable for recovery must have been agreed or subsequently authorised. A dismantled vehicle may need specialist transport and may not be safe to drive.
Our normal policy is to supply new genuine vehicle-manufacturer parts where reasonably available and suitable. Where appropriate, we may offer new parts from reputable named manufacturers that meet the relevant specification. These are not necessarily vehicle-manufacturer branded. We will make the proposed specification clear and obtain approval for a material substitution.
We do not normally supply or fit used, refurbished or reconditioned parts. We may agree an exception only at your specific request, subject to suitability and safety checks and written confirmation of the part, its condition, supplier, price and warranty position. We may refuse parts we reasonably consider unsafe or unsuitable.
If G3 purchases a part and resells it to you, G3 remains responsible for its legal obligations as the seller, even if you chose the part or its supplier. We cannot remove those obligations by describing it as customer-selected or special-order. Any specific defect disclosed before sale must be expressly accepted and must not make the installation unsafe.
We accept customer-supplied parts only by prior agreement. You are responsible for obtaining the correct part, its provenance, completeness and any supplier warranty. Our checks cannot guarantee that a part is authentic, internally sound or compatible in every respect.
G3 gives no voluntary parts warranty on items you buy directly from another supplier. Failure of that part, or a problem caused solely by its condition or incompatibility, is not covered by our workmanship warranty. We remain responsible for fitting it with reasonable care and skill and for damage caused by our failure to do so.
If an unsuitable or defective part causes extra work, we will explain and agree any additional charges before proceeding. Removing and refitting a failed customer-supplied part is chargeable where the failure is not our responsibility. We do not guarantee third-party delivery dates, but will update you on delays known to us.
We aim to complete work promptly using appropriately skilled technicians. Completion dates are estimates unless expressly agreed as binding. Parts availability, specialist testing, hidden faults and approval delays may affect timing. We will tell you about material delays and give a revised estimate. This does not remove our obligation to complete work within an agreed or otherwise reasonable time, or your remedies if we fail to do so.
You authorise reasonable movement of the vehicle and necessary diagnostic or verification road tests by appropriately licensed and insured personnel. We will obtain agreement for unusual testing arrangements. Any specialist subcontract work and associated costs will be explained and agreed; subcontracting does not remove our contractual responsibility to you.
Please remove valuables and tell us about alarms, immobilisers and special operating requirements. We will take reasonable care of your vehicle, keys and property. We do not exclude responsibility for loss or damage caused by our negligence. Vehicles may be parked in our normal workshop or external parking areas.
A service, diagnosis or repair is limited to the agreed scope and is not a guarantee that the entire vehicle is fault-free. We will report significant safety concerns identified during the work. If the vehicle is unsafe to drive, we will advise recovery; collection does not certify roadworthiness.
Invoices are payable in full on presentation unless written credit terms have been agreed beforehand. Completed diagnostic stages may be invoiced separately. We may require payment of completed stages before further work begins. You remain responsible for authorised charges where an insurer or warranty provider declines payment, unless we expressly agreed to look solely to that provider.
A deposit may be required when you authorise repairs, before parts are ordered or work starts. Its amount and purpose will be stated in the quotation and credited against your invoice. Deposits are not automatically non-refundable; cancellation is dealt with under section 13.
Payment must be received before collection or release to a recovery company, subject to your legal rights. We may retain a vehicle only where we have a lawful right to do so for charges properly due in respect of that vehicle. This is not an unrestricted right to retain it for disputed, unrelated or unauthorised charges. We continue to owe a duty of care while it is retained.
Please raise invoice concerns promptly so we can investigate. Payment does not waive your right to complain or seek a legal remedy, including where payment is made under protest. We may pursue unpaid sums through lawful debt recovery or court proceedings; recovery costs are payable only where lawfully recoverable. No automatic consumer late-payment penalty applies under these terms.
We will notify you when your vehicle is ready for collection, or when agreed work has stopped and it is available for recovery. Please arrange collection within three working days after that notice. A working day is Monday to Friday excluding English bank holidays. The notice will state the collection deadline, available collection arrangements and the date storage charges would begin.
Where these terms were agreed before the booking, storage is charged at £35 per calendar day including VAT after the stated deadline, while the vehicle remains uncollected. The daily charge starts on the following day and applies on the day of collection. We will give at least three working days’ written notice before charging. Any longer period we agree with you takes priority.
Storage is a charge for occupying space and caring for the vehicle, not a penalty for disputing an invoice. It does not apply while agreed work is continuing, while G3 is responsible for a delay, or where we prevent collection without a lawful reason. We will consider reasonable requests for extra time and any genuine dispute, and will not let avoidable charges accumulate unreasonably. Charges stop on collection or earlier written agreement; paying the repair bill alone does not reserve free storage indefinitely.
Collection must be arranged during agreed opening hours. Tell us who is collecting and authorise any recovery operator. We may verify their identity and authority before release. Recovery costs are yours unless agreed otherwise or recoverable from us under your legal rights.
We will make reasonable attempts to contact you and give written notice requiring collection. A vehicle does not become G3’s property simply because it is uncollected or a bill remains unpaid.
Any sale or disposal will take place only where legally permitted, following the applicable notice requirements and procedures, including the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 where relevant. We will consider ownership, finance interests and any dispute before acting. Sale proceeds will be accounted for, lawful deductions made and any surplus dealt with as the law requires. These terms do not authorise immediate sale, scrapping or transfer of ownership.
G3 provides a voluntary 12-month warranty on new parts we supply and fit and on our workmanship, starting when the relevant work is completed and the vehicle is made available to you. There is no mileage limit. This warranty covers defects in those parts and faults caused by our workmanship; it is not a warranty on the whole vehicle.
For a covered fault, we will inspect and rectify the problem without charging for the necessary covered parts or labour, within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience. If that does not resolve the matter, your statutory remedies remain available. A longer manufacturer warranty, where applicable, is additional to this cover. You need not pursue the manufacturer instead of G3 for matters for which we are responsible.
Normal wear, routine servicing and unrelated faults are not covered by the voluntary warranty. Damage caused by misuse, accident, incorrect fuel or fluids, neglected maintenance, unauthorised modifications or continued driving after a serious warning is excluded only to the extent that it caused or worsened the claimed fault. Wear items remain covered against defects; they are not excluded merely because they wear in normal use.
Customer-supplied parts are excluded as explained in section 6. Used, refurbished or reconditioned parts supplied at your specific request are excluded from our voluntary parts warranty unless expressly included in writing. Our workmanship warranty and your statutory rights still apply. There is no blanket exclusion of liability for fitting such parts.
Report a suspected fault promptly with your registration, invoice details and symptoms. Stop using the vehicle if further use could be unsafe or worsen damage. Contact us to arrange inspection and give us a reasonable opportunity to put matters right. We will agree safe transport arrangements where needed; reasonable necessary recovery costs caused by our breach will be dealt with under your legal rights.
Please contact us before commissioning third-party remedial work where reasonably possible. Emergency action, or action reasonably required because we cannot provide an appropriate remedy, does not automatically void your rights. Keep invoices and evidence. We do not promise to reimburse unrelated or unnecessarily incurred costs.
This warranty is provided by G3 at the contact address in section 1 for work undertaken at our workshop. It does not limit the duration or scope of statutory rights, which can extend beyond 12 months.
Tell us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel or change a booking. Where no statutory cooling-off right applies, you must pay for authorised work already performed and reasonable unavoidable losses directly caused by cancellation, less costs saved and amounts recovered. We will provide a breakdown, seek to minimise losses and refund any unused deposit. Standard parts ordered especially for your vehicle are not automatically bespoke or non-returnable.
Consumers may have a 14-day cancellation right for qualifying distance or off-premises contracts. For services alone, the period ends 14 days after the contract is made; for goods or goods with fitting, it generally ends 14 days after receipt of the goods. Where applicable, we will provide the relevant cancellation information and form before the contract is agreed.
If you expressly ask us to start services within that period, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for services supplied before cancellation, provided the legal information and consent requirements have been met. For a service-only contract, the right ends on full performance only with your prior express request and acknowledgement. Completion of fitting does not itself remove cancellation rights in goods.
To cancel, send a clear statement to our email or postal address in section 1; you do not have to use a particular form. Send it before the deadline. Applicable statutory refunds will be made within the legal time limit, normally 14 days after notice, with lawful goods-return withholding where permitted. We will not impose cancellation or restocking penalties on statutory cancellations. Any applicable goods-return arrangements and direct return costs will be disclosed before contracting.
We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for an unrelated pre-existing fault simply because it becomes apparent during or after our work. We remain responsible if our actions cause or worsen damage.
Nothing excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded. We do not impose a blanket exclusion for vehicle damage, recovery costs or loss of use where we are legally responsible. Please take reasonable steps to avoid preventable loss.
For business customers, any agreed limitations or credit arrangements must be set out separately in writing and remain subject to applicable law. Describing someone as a business customer does not remove consumer rights if they are in fact acting as a consumer.
Please contact info@g3mechanics.co.uk or write to the workshop address, marking your message for the Director and including your registration, invoice number and the outcome you seek. We aim to acknowledge complaints within five working days and provide a substantive response within 14 days. If investigation takes longer, we will explain why and give an update date.
If we cannot resolve a consumer complaint, we will provide information about an appropriate available alternative dispute resolution provider and state whether we are obliged or prepared to participate, as required by the rules then in force. These terms do not claim membership of The Motor Ombudsman or any other accreditation scheme. You retain your right to seek independent advice and use the courts.
We use customer and vehicle details to administer bookings, carry out work, communicate, invoice and handle claims. Relevant information may be shared with parts suppliers, specialist contractors, warranty providers and professional advisers where necessary and lawful. Diagnostic reports and photographs may be retained as evidence of the work. Our separate privacy notice explains the lawful bases, retention periods and your data protection rights; these terms do not constitute marketing consent.
Removed parts are normally disposed of responsibly unless you request their return before work begins. We will explain any legal disposal restrictions or required supplier returns. If return of an exchange component is a condition of a specifically agreed part purchase, we will make that clear in advance.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in the courts available to them under applicable law. Business disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue so far as legally possible. We will provide a copy of these terms on request. Version 1.0, prepared 20 October 2026. This version applies only when supplied and agreed as part of a new booking.
